Father Mother Sister Brother

Father Mother Sister Brother

U.S.A., Italy, France, Ireland, Germany, 110 min.

The latest work by cult filmmaker Jim Jarmusch is a witty family triptych composed of three stories set in different countries. The film explores the relationships between adult children and their more or less estranged parents in the United States, Ireland, and France. Jeff (Adam Driver) and his sister Emmy (Mayim Bialik) are driving to visit their father (Tom Waits), whom they haven’t seen in years. In her lavish Dublin home, a mother (Charlotte Rampling) chats with her therapist on the phone while awaiting the arrival of her daughters, Timothee (Cate Blanchett) and Lilith (Vicky Krieps). Twins Billy (Luka Sabbat) and Skye (Indya Moore) visit their late parents’ Paris apartment for the last time.

Told in Jarmusch’s signature style, blending humour and melancholy, Father Mother Sister Brother won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival.
