Georges and Anne Laurent are a Parisian couple and parents of a twelve-year-old boy, Pierrot. Georges is a successful television host of a literary show, and Anne is a book publisher.

Their safe and pleasant everyday life is threatened by the appearance of videotapes of unknown authors. Someone from outside is recording their house, so even though there is no message with the tapes that appear on their doorstep, they are perceived as a hidden threat.
