It is November 1975. The second trial of Pierre Goldman, a radical militant leftist, begins. During his first trial, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for four armed robberies, one of which resulted in the death of two chemists.

Goldman maintains his innocence in relation to the latest indictment and, after a few weeks, has become an icon of the intellectual left. Young lawyer Georges Kiejman is in charge of Goldman's defense. However, very soon, their relationship is increasingly shaken. Provocative Goldman risks getting the death penalty and does everything to make his own trial uncertain...
