On Friday we watch Almodovar's hit "Pain and Glory''

04.02.2020.

The film ''Pain and Glory'' tells the story of the reunions of the experienced Salvador Mall, a physically decaying film director.

Some of them happen face to face, others take place in his memory: his childhood in the 60s when he emigrated with his parents to a village in Valencia in search of a better life, his first longing, his first true love in Madrid during the 80s, the pain that followed the breakup of that love while she was still at her peak, writing as the only therapy to forget the unforgettable, the early discovery of cinematography and the emptiness, the endless emptiness responsible for his inability to continue making film.

Almodovar's autobiographical drama won Best Actor and Composer at last year's Cannes Film Festival and earned two Oscar nominations for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Leading Actor, as well as the first such nominations for a seasoned acting bard, Antonio Banderas.

We'll see ''Pain and Glory'' this Friday, February 7 at 8 pm in the Concert Hall of the Rector's Palace.

You can buy tickets every working day from 8 am to 2 pm in the premises of the Alliance of Independent Culture Centre (across from the post office in Relja) and at the screening location 45 minutes before the start.
