Kino mreža's First Spring Conference in Zadar

20.05.2022.

Independent cinema exhibitors of Kino mreža are organizing their first spring conference in Zadar, which is also where Mreža was founded back in 2014. The conference assembles independent cinema exhibitors, that is professionals from audiovisual department, cinema managers, directors, and producers to promote their development through conversations, educational talks and film screenings.

Among others, the participants include Denis Hladiš, the president of Kino mreža, and Olja Jakišić, the head of the Cinema Exhibitors Project at CAC (Croatian Audiovisual Centre) that endorses independent cinemas institutionally, technologically and program-wise.
Kino mreža alongside the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and the Centre of Independent Culture Association have prepared an enriching program that will take place at the II Palaces Museum, from Monday, May 23rd, to Wednesday, May 25th.
Denis Hladiš, the president of Kino mreža, Andrej Fric, the president of the Centre of Independent Culture, and the representatives of the city of Zadar and the Zadar county will be present at the opening day on Monday.
The focus will be placed on film literacy, whilst participants will have an opportunity to contribute with their knowledge and advice to its use and spread by sharing experiences and examples of good practice. In line with that, Diana Budisavljević, the director of ‟Dnevnik Diane Budisavljević”, and Marina Andree Škop, the director of ‟Moj dida je pao s Marsa“, moderated by Uroš Živanović, will have a talk on how to increase viewership and attendance of cinema programs through film literacy. Subsequently, Sanja Zanki Plejić of the Croatian Film Association, Ivana Jakobović Alpeza of the 'Sedmi kontinent', and Marija Georgiev of the 'Bacači sjenki' will present their platforms and advise on simple ways to improve and introduce film literacy to cinemas, based on their noteworthy experiences in the industry respectively. Moreover, a film analysis workshop will be held, in which Ana Đorđić will take the participants through the phases of the analysis using a short film as an example, and present the book ‟Film u školi”.
Given the importance of promoting domestically produced films in our cinemas, there will be screenings of two newest titles of Croatian distribution. The screenings will be closed to the public, however the people of Zadar will soon be able to enjoy these domestic film productions.
On the regular and electoral council meeting, Kino mreža will decide on their president and governing board. On May 24th, at 09:30 am, Mato Željko will give a talk called ‟Uvođenje eura” (eng. ‟Introducing euro”) with the intention of better understanding the actions and strategies to be undertaken and which legal deadlines apply, emphasizing the adjustment of cinematographic businesses.
As always, the participants will have a chance to exchange experiences, ideas and thoughts not only during the program but during the informal part of the conference, as well.
Hosting the Conference is a new step toward revitalization of film screenings and the audiovisual department of Zadar and Zadar county.
